Nitinol is a nickel-titanium alloy consisting of 55% nickel and 45% titanium. Special material properties of Nitinol are its shape memory and superelasticity. These enable the production of customised ropes that also meet very specific requirements. Ropes and strands made of Nitinol are mainly used in medical technology. Here, they not only increase the efficiency but also the safety of medical devices. Nitinol wire ropes are used in the manufacture of minimally invasive instruments and in orthopaedics and neurosurgery.
